THE MANDATE

What Labor Law Section 27-e Requires

on January 1, 2027

Covered employers: retail employers with 500 or more retail employees statewide in New York. NYSDOL published proposed regulations September 30, 2026.

Every employee has access
Bryx app on the tablets, handhelds, or company phones you already own. Unlimited users. Optional fixed wireless buttons for counters and back rooms.
Immediate internal response
Store and district managers alerted in under a second. Asset protection and risk notified in parallel. If no one clears it, Bryx escalates to 911 with location.

Employer devices only
Deployed on company issued devices. Personal phones stay out of scope.
Location only on activation
Location transmits only when a button is pressed and stops when the incident closes.

Written instructions
A one page, store specific instruction sheet for every location, delivered at activation.
Non retaliation
Accidental and good faith activations are logged as such, giving you a clean record for your policy.
HOW IT WORKS

One Press. Management and First Responders Alerted.

01. Trigger

Press the Button

  • · In the Bryx app on a store device, or a fixed wireless button at the counter or in the back room.

The Bridge Between Button and Response

  • · Sub second alerts. No store network changes. Location shared only on activation.

03. Response

Managers, Corporate, and 911

Bryx is the alerting platform used by more than 2,000 fire and EMS agencies, 911 centers, and U.S. military installations including West Point. The same system now runs on the retail floor.

Not legal advice. Descriptions of the Retail Worker Safety Act and the proposed regulations are Bryx's summary. Each employer and its counsel determine coverage and compliance. The proposed rule may change before it is final.

Pricing and terms. Prices are in U.S. dollars and exclude applicable taxes. Launch pricing of $75 per store per month applies to retailers live before January 1, 2027 and is held for three years. Any engagement is subject to a mutually executed subscription agreement, which governs over this page. The five store evaluation carries no fee and no obligation.

Service dependencies. Alert delivery depends on the employers devices, connectivity, and responder availability. Escalation to 911 depends on each public safety answering point's integration and policies, which are outside Bryx's control. Bryx does not guarantee a response by any third party.

Privacy. Location is transmitted only when a button is activated and stops when the incident closes. Activation and location data are retained only for incident records. Bryx security documentation is available for IT review on request.
